My Math Chapter 2: Multiply Whole Numbers

In this chapter, students will use the commutative, associative, and distributive properties to develop an algorithm for whole number multiplication.

Chapter 2 Objectives:

Use arrays to describe multiplication.
Apply the associative and commutative properties of multiplication.
Identify prime and composite numbers.
Find the prime factorization of numbers.
Use powers and exponents in expressions.
Use extended facts to multiply by powers of 10.
Apply the distributive property to multiply whole numbers using an area model.
Estimate products of whole numbers.
Use an algorithm to multiply whole numbers.
