add 4/6 + 8/14 to get a half number

Are you sure 4/6 + 8/14 is a half? 4/6 is more than a half since 3/6 is equal to a half. 8/14 is also more than a half since 7/14 equals a half. Therefore, 4/6 + 8/14 should be more than 1/2 + 1/2.
